About Me:

Alexander Benz was born in Offenbach, Germany.  He has been working as a registered Emergency Physician for the past years and, after starting his career in Alabama, has served the citizens of North Georgia over the past 8 years.  He is responsible for the emergent care of patients, and is a board certified Emergency Physician.  Dr. Benz currently is an attending physician at several Northeast Georgia Health System sites, including Gainesville, Braselton, Barrow, and Lumpkin.  He serves on several hospital committees and is the Medical Director of Dawsonville Rescue, and ambulance service that serves Dawson County.  He is a member of the Georgia Emergency Department Services Financial Board.

Dr. Benz became interested in medicine at an early age, and after graduating from the University of Rochester, in Rochester, New York, he attended the Albany Medical College in Albany, New York.  He then completed a Family Medicine Residency at Duke Hospital in Durham, North Carolina, where he excelled during his emergency medicine rotation.  This prompted him to attend an emergency medicine residency in Detroit, Michigan.  After completion of his residency at Detroit Receiving Hospital, he started his emergency medicine career at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Alabama.

Dr. Benz is known for his interpersonal skills and compassionate patient care.  With the ability to speak several languages, he enjoys caring for patients of all backgrounds, cultures, and ethnicities.  He currently enjoys farming and has grown to love the region he serves.
